Welcome to Above Basketball Academy. Along with Jacksonville Basketball Academy, Jim Martin has created the largest basketball program in Northeast Florida with three convenient locations – one at the beach, one near St. Johns County, and one in San Marco. The Academy has trained and developed over 2,000 players in the community over the past ten years and offers the best training around for young players.

Above Basketball Academy is directed by one of the most accomplished high school basketball coaches in the state of Florida, Jim Martin. Coach Martin is a four-time recipient of the Coach of the Year Award. His Providence High School Basketball Team won State Championships in 2010, 2013, and 2015 and was recently nationally recognized by Max Preps as a Top 25 Team over the past five years. Since 2010, six of his players have won the local “Player of the Year” award.

Coach Martin is the only high school coach from the state of the Florida to be chosen as the head coach for the renowned McDonald’s All American Game in 2017. The game was held in the United Center in Chicago, and he had the pleasure of coaching rising NBA stars Mohamed Bamba (Orlando Magic), Kevin Knox (New York Knicks), Collin Sexton (Cleveland Cavaliers), and Lonnie Walker (San Antonio Spurs).

Over his 25 years of coaching, Coach Martin has created the blueprint for training young players to become the next outstanding middle and high school players. He has developed successful drills to improve shooting, ball handling, passing, and footwork, all of which focus on teaching an overall understanding of the game and teamwork. Coach Martin has produced more middle school, high school, and collegiate players than any other coach in the area.
